I kept coming back to this Spannochia view to paint. I sat on a wall at the end of the long, winding road up to the villa. I tried using 2 different sizes of paper to change up the composition a bit.
One day when I was painting here I heard someone screaming “Help! Help me!” over and over. At first I assumed it was some of the interns fooling around, then I thought it might be Jill hurt in the woods. I jumped up to run toward the sounds and they promptly stopped. I found out later that the newborn baby donkey had fallen into a pond and was drowning. One of the interns who just happened to be nearby had jumped in and was trying to save the little one while the momma donkey looked on. All in a typical day at a medieval Italian farm…
