Another watercolor plein air piece on the grounds of Spannochia, this one done in late afternoon. Early morning and late afternoon–that’s when the golden light creates magic!
I spent almost every minute on the property painting. My traveling friend, Jill, was so kind and accommodating about this obsession of mine. Of course, while I indulged in art, she fed her passion for the land. She walked almost every acre of the large farm, visiting the Cinta Sienese pigs, the gardens, the outlying villas and even managed an encounter with a mama cinghiale (wild boar) and her 12 baby piglets. We were a perfect traveling pair, each with our own specific interests but very happy to spend time together wandering the hilltowns as well. Oh, and gelato. We both craved gelato! We called ourselves “Due Jill” — Two Jills. Below is a photo of us on the Ponte Vecchio in Florence.
